The much anticipated Nissan Terrano has been finally launched today in the Indian market at Rs 9.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). Based on the highly popular Renault Duster, The Terrano is Rs 50,000 costlier than the former.

The Terrano has been made available in total 7 variants, out of which one is petrol and six are diesel. Both the petrol and diesel versions sport the same 1.6-litre and 1.5-litre powertrains respectively, found on Duster. While the 1.6-litre petrol motor churns out the maximum power output of 102bhp and 145Nm of peak torque, the 1.5-litre diesel mill is offered with both the 85PS (84bhp) and 110PS (109bhp) power tuned versions.

The petrol and 85bhp diesel versions have been made available with a five-speed manual transmission, while the 110PS version comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Technically, both the Terrano and Duster are same, it's the design which set them apart.

Based on highly popular Renault Duster, Nissan has adopted a new design for Terrano to differentiate between the two. While front fascia of the Terrano gets a revised bumper, new headlamps, honeycomb grille and a big Nissan badge, the rear has a split light arrangement, with half part of the lights given on the bootlid. The front resembles to the X-Trail and other flagship SUVs offered by Nissan worldwide.

The interior too looks similar to that of the Duster, though Terrano has new music system, different design for the central AC vents. Other than the XE base variant, features like ABS+EBD+Brake Assist and driver side airbag are standard on all variants. The top end variant has two airbags, rear parking sensor, leather seats, leather wrapped gear knob and steering wheel.
