Maruti Suzuki will launch their much-awaited S-Cross crossover on August 5th. It will be sold through special Nexa dealerships, which was flagged off yesterday in an event in Delhi.
The S-Cross is the debut vehicle for the 1.6-litre MJD diesel engine in India. Coming from the same Fiat engine family as the 1.3-litre mill that a large part of the Maruti cars already uses, the bigger engine is fitted with a variable geometry turbocharger and produces 118bhp and best-in-class 320Nm of torque. The 1.3-litre engine will also be available with the lower variants, along with a five-speed manual gearbox, whereas the 1.6 version gets a six-speed manual. There’s no petrol engine on offer and neither an automatic transmission or all-wheel-drive.
The S-Cross crossover will be offered in four trim levels- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and the Alpha. Only the entry-level variant will get the 1.3-litre diesel unit, while the upper three variants will come with both 1.3L and 1.6L MJD units. The top-end trim will be loaded with all the bells and whistles such as automatic climate control, 7-inch touchscreen with navigation and bluetooth, cruise control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, 16-inch alloy wheels and many more.
