A new contender is all set to join the ranks of those who hold the keys to the automatic transmission club. Renault is all set to make its presence felt at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show by introducing its first set of AMT-equipped vehicles. This automatic technology from Renault will probably be called 'Easy-R'.This technology might take its own-sweet time to materialize and find its application in Renault vehicles but the company’s budget brand, Dacia will be the first to make use of this AMT technology.
Cars like the new Logan, the Logan MCV, the Dacia Sandero and the Sandero Stepway will be some of the first models to get the Easy-R gearbox in European markets. An automatic gearbox version of the Renault Kwid is also in the works and will follow the launch of the standard MT Renault Kwid in India. The car will feature an innovative rotary knob on the centre console for the gearbox. This also means that the option of manual shifting will be eradicated completely, which is conventionally seen in other AMT offerings from Maruti and Tata.
