The news about Renault-Nissan's plans of introducing an A segment vehicle is true, and the same has been confirmed today by Carlos Ghosn. He said that the alliance is working on the CMF-A platform.

We can expect the first product to be out by 2015. Renault and Datsun both could get this product in their portfolio. CMF stands for Common Module Family. Like all CMF categories, CMF-A will offer a high degree of flexibility.

By the end of the year, Renault-Nissan are targeting to have 5 percent market share in India and the alliance has a goal of 15 percent in the coming few years.

The Chennai plant can currently produce 400,000 units annually and four different platforms. The alliance is also setting up a research and development centre in India. The alliance has no plans to introduce the Dacia brand in India, and it will be sold in Europe and North Africa only.

Nissan will introduce a total 10 new products in India by 2016, out of those three will be of Datsun. Nissan also has a tie-up with Ashok Leyland and today evening the company will launch the Stile MPV.
