Skoda that launched the new generation Octavia in the D-segment, has now officially discontinued the Laura premium sedan from the country. The company has removed the car from its official website, indicating that the sedan has been phased out from India.
For the little time, both Octavia and Laura sold simultaneously in the Indian car market. The company cleared all the stocks of the sedan and now it will not make new Lauras for buyers. The Laura sedan was available in both petrol and diesel guise. While the diesel model featured the 2-litre TDI turbo diesel motor, which is tuned to offer two states of power - 108bhp, 205Nm and 138bhp, 320Nm, the petrol Laura was powered by the 1.8-litre TSI turbo mill that produces 160bhp and 250Nm of torque.
The 108bhp Laura mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the powerful version features two gearbox- a six-speed manual and dual-clutch DSG gearbox. The petrol model got both six-speed manual and 7-speed dual clutch DSG gearbox. Skoda Laura was priced at Rs. 14.55 lakh for entry level model and Rs. 19.27 lakh for high end model.
