There is good news from the world of car safety and crash tests. The Suzuki Ciaz and the Ertiga have both scored a four-star safety rating in the ASEAN NCAP. In the area of child safety, both the cars were awarded with a two-star rating. It is to be noted that the diesel variants of the Ciaz and Ertiga had faced a price drop in the national capital. This drop in price came as a result of the reduction of duty on electric and hybrid vehicles in Delhi.

The Ciaz performed well by achieving a four-star rating for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) with 14.56 points. But, it met only 37 per cent compliance for its Child Occupant Protection (COP), which falls under the two-star rating. This model of the Ciaz was equipped with dual-front airbags, Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and had a 1.4-litre petrol engine. In India, the car is available with dual-front airbags, ABS, SBR and seatbelt pre-tensioner with force limiter.

The Ertiga scored 12.39 points with a four-star rating for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP). As for Child Occupant Protection (COP), it achieved a two-star rating by meeting 33 per cent compliance. The Ertiga which was tested was equipped with dual-front airbags, SBR and ABS. In India, the Ertiga comes with almost similar safety features as the Ciaz. It has dual-front airbags, ABS, seatbelt pre-tensioner and force limiter for the front seats.

The ratings present themselves as a positive note for Suzuki, especially after its acceptance of wrongfully testing cars for their fuel economy. This news follows the one where Volkswagen Vento upgraded to a five-star safety rating from a four-star rating and seven popular Indian cars scoring zero stars in the safety rating.
