After receiving more than 22,000 bookings within the first two months of its launch, the Tata Tiago has now experienced a rise in its booking period too, which currently stands at no less than three months. The pending bookings have reportedly crossed 23,000 as well.
Given the negative milieu surrounding diesel cars in the country, it comes as little surprise that more than 80 percent of the total bookings are for the petrol variants of the hatchback.
The gradual success of the Tiago can largely be attributed to the myriad features that it has to offer for its pricing, along with Tata’s new design language that debuted with this car.
The base variant starts at Rs 3.2 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 5.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the Hyundai Grand i10, and the Chevrolet Beat, are all priced higher than the Tiago.
That said, it’s only a matter of time before Tata hikes this introductory price of the Tiago, but reports suggest that it will remain fairly competitive with respect to the rest of the market.

On the back of the Tiago’s aforementioned success, Tata Motors regained the third position in the sales charts of the first quarter of FY2017. The Indian carmaker also posted a remarkable 100 percent growth in the hatchback segment for the month of June.
Overall though, the Tiago stood outside the top 15 selling cars last month, with 4,205 units, indicating that there is still a long way to go for the hatchback. On the flipside, the Tiago became the first model from Tata's stables to exceed monthly sales figure of 4,000 units in the past two years.
