Volkswagen has started the export of its India-manufactured Vento to Argentina. This mid-sized sedan will be called ‘Polo’ in the South American country and will feature some mechanical changes. The car is being manufactured in VW’s Pune plant, which also manufactures other products that are exported to over 35 countries across Asia, Africa, North America and South America since 2011.

Volkswagen said that Argentina’s Vento or ‘Polo’ will feature a 1.6-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. The company added that Volkswagen has been the market leader in Argentina for 12 consecutive years with a market share of approximately 22%. Volkswagen India President & MD Andreas Lauermann said, "We have been exporting to numerous markets across Asia, Africa and North America. By entering Argentina, now we not only continue our endeavour to deliver top notch products around the world, but also establish ourselves in a new region and a market which has a strong Volkswagen presence"
