Volkswagen Vento Facelift Launched: All-You-Need-to-Know-About

Volkswagen has launched the 2015 Vento facelift at Rs. 7.70 Lac (Ex-Showroom Mumbai) and 7.85 Lac (Ex-Showroom New Delhi). This is the second update Volkswagen has given to the Vento within a year of time. It got a new diesel engine in November last year and few stylistic upgrades, but the 2015 model gets comprehensive stylistic makeover along with added features. Let us see what it offers.

Exteriors

  • The 2015 Vento features a new three-slat chrome grille sporting the current family look and is similar to the ones in the 2015 Jetta facelift and the upcoming Passat. The dual barrel headlamps are carried forward from the last update
  • Bumper is new and offers a slightly larger air dam. There’s a chrome line that runs throughout the bumper. And it gets cornering lights in the fog lamps.
  • The side profile is kept unaltered, save for the new Polo borrowed alloys, new chrome highlights on the door handles, and side repeaters on the ORVMs

  • At the rear, the bumper is new, there’s a recess in the bottom of it which holds the reflectors flanked around by a chrome applique. The exhaust tip gets an outlet in the bumper with a chrome muffler tip
  • The taillight cluster is same, but it gets new graphics, there’s a faux LED layout too.

Interiors

  • Unlike the exteriors, interiors of the Vento receives no aesthetic changes, it carries the alterations from the last update in November 2014 - things like flat bottom steering wheel and silver accents on the center console
  • However, VW says that it gets a lighter shade of beige, they are calling it ‘Walnut desert beige’
  • Apart from regular features of the previous car, the 2015 Vento adds a cruise control, a cooled glovebox, a dead pedal (for the automatic trims) and the outside rearview mirrors are now power foldable

Safety

  • Like before, the 2015 Vento comes standard with dual front airbags
  • However, ABS starts from the second variant trim - Comfortline onwards
  • The DSG dual-clutch automatic variants also offer  ESP – Electronic Stabilisation Programme and Hill Hold Control

Engines

1.5-liter TDI Diesel:

  • The 1498 cc motor generates 103.5bhp @ 4400 rpm and 250 Nm of max torque in-between - 1500-2500 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-Speed MT and 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. The 1.5 TDI gets certified fuel efficiency of  20.64 kmpl (MT) and 21.50 kmpl (DSG)

1.6-liter MPI and 1.2-liter TSI Petrol:

  • Petrol Vento comes with an option of 1.6 liter naturally aspirated MPI petrol and 1.2 liter turbocharged TSI petrol
  • The 1.6 MPI produces 103.5 bhp @ 5250 rpm and 153 Nm of max torque @ 3800 rpm, mated to a 5-Speed manual unit. The engine delivers 16.09 kmpl certified efficiency
  • The sprightlier 1.2 TSI turbocharged chucks out 103.5 bhp @ 5000 rpm and 175 Nm of max twist in-between - 1500-4100 rpm. The 1.2-liter TSI feeds power to a 7-Speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. The engine delivers 18.19 kmpl certified fuel efficiency. The 1.2 TSI delivers 16.93km/l
