Week of Launches: New Scorpio, Vento, Rapid, Duster AWD make way; Sail duo, WagonR, Xylo facelift chip in too

Mahindra has finally got the new Scorpio and the Indian utility vehicle manufacturer has back a new generation of this SUV. This is a new chassis and several changes have been implemented to make it competitive with the current competition. Mahindra has even raised the bar with the new Scorpio. Next Gen Mahindra Scorpio Launched at INR 7.98 Lakh

The homegrown manufacturer Mahindra finally launched the Scorpio facelift at Rs 7.98 lakh while the top end model S 10 is priced at Rs 11.46 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai). The 2014 Scorpio facelift is available in 6 variants-S2, S4, S6, S6+, S8 and top-of-the-line S10. The SUV also features two new color shades- Molten RED and Regal Blue. The bookings have already started across the Mahindra dealerships. The SUV lock horns with recently launched Renault AWD and Tata Safari.

Scorpio has taken a big leap forward, the new Scorpio that looks rather a facelift is a brand new vehicle apart from the carried over styling. As they say, you don't change what people love, cars like Safari, Swift as you have seen haven't change their overall proportions in facelifts, reason - loved for their styling. Renault India launches Duster AWD at INR 11.89 Lakh

Renault India has launched the All Wheel Drive (AWD) version of its successful Duster SUV at INR 11.89 lakh. Till date, the Duster was only available in the front-wheel drive (FWD) version, but now this all-wheel-drive (AWD) version will be sold alongside the existing line-up. 

GM India launches the new Chevrolet SAIL available in sedan and hatchback

General Motors India today launched new variants of their popular car SAIL. The Chevrolet SAIL has been launched in both hatchback and sedan variants and is priced between Rs 4.41 lakh – 6.81 lakh for the hatchback; while the sedan is priced between Rs 5.19 lakh – 7.64 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. 

Maruti Suzuki launched the limited edition of Celerio VXi+

On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, Japanese manufacturer Maruti Suzuki launched the Limited Edition of Celerio VXi+. The limited edition VXi+ is actually a package available at dealer end and boasts cosmetic upgrades like central locking with remote, body colored door handles and ORVMs with side blinkers. The limited edition is also available in LXi and VXi variants. The limited edition is introduced to attract more buyers in the festival season.

When the Skoda rapid was launched about three years back, it was car that made an impression with its looks and performance. It was a machine that a first time sedan buyer would aspire for given its Czech legacy, aggressive styling, comfort and brand value. Skoda launches new Rapid at INR 7.22 Lakhs

After launching its potent Yeti SUV quite recently, Skoda India has launched the refreshed Rapid at INR 7.20 Lakhs. The new Rapid is being offered with two engine options, namely a 1.6-litre MPI petrol and the new 1.5-litre TDI diesel mill. While the four trim includes Active, Ambition Plus, Elegance, Elegance Package. The new Rapid will continue locking its horns with the C-segment sedans, that includes Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta, Fiat Linea and the Honda City.

Competition in the diesel automatic finally begins as Volkswagen introduced the DSG automatic gearbox in Vento diesel model. Up until now, only Hyundai Verna offered the automatic transmission in diesel model while belonging to same VW family, Skoda will bring the Rapid with DSG gearbox tomorrow on 25th September. Volkswagen Vento Facelift Launched at INR 7.44 lakh

After all the speculations and spied images, Volkswagen has finally launched the facelift version of Vento at INR 7.44 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The biggest change in the updated version is inclusion of 1.5-litre TDi diesel engine which replaces the bigger 1.6-litre engine. The fuel efficient diesel engine is offered with both 5- speed manual transmission and a 7-speed dual-shift DSG automatic gearbox (first in segment).

The car that solely made Renault a mainstream automaker in India – Renault Duster is getting it's first major upgrade since its inception in the country. Looks like the French automaker has tried to improve few sore points of the Duster, like the dashboard which is now more premium on the AWD version and the much craved by Duster fanatics, an all-wheel-drive system with independent suspensions. The shift-on-fly all-wheel-drive system has three mode – 2WD, Auto and Lock (4WD – Lock), Renault calls it 'i-Drive'. This setup makes the Duster AWD the most fuel efficient SUV in the county @ 19.72km/l and the sole compact SUV which gets power in all the four wheels!

Refreshed Mahindra Xylo Launched @ Rs. 7.52 lakh

In a bid to increase Xylo's sales, Mahindra has introduced updated Xylo at a price of Rs. 7.52 lakh (BSIII) and Rs. 7.66 (BSIV) (All Ex Showroom New Delhi). The refreshed MUV comes with both mechanical and cosmetic changes. The new Xylo comes in five trims, namely, D2, D4, H4, H8 and and the top-of-the-line H9 and is priced in between Rs. 7.52 to 10.3 lakh. 

Limited edition Wagon R 'Krest' variant introduced

In a bid to attract maximum customers during the upcoming festive season, India's largest Maruti Suzuki has introduced Limited Edition of its Wagon R hatchback. Re-christened as Wagon R Krest, the special variant comes with several minor tweaks inside-out. Price of the model has been kept INR 22,500 above the standard model.
