Air passenger traffic up 3.2% to 943.58 lakh in January-August 2019
The air passenger traffic of domestic airlines has increased 3.9% to 117.93 lakh in August 2019 over 113.54 lakh in August 2018. Vistara has posted strong 61.7% growth in the passenger traffic to 6.84 lakh, while gained share to 5.8% in August 2019. Air Asia also posted strong 42.1% growth in the passenger traffic to 7.63 lakh, followed by Go Air 37.2% to 13.91 lakh and Spice Jet 30.6% to 18.34 lakh.Further, the passenger traffic of Trujet jumped 19.6% to 0.61 lakh, Indigo 16.5% to 55.41 lakh and Air India 5.1% to 15.15 lakh. Indigo improved its market share to 47.0% in August 2019 from 41.9% in August 2018.
The cumulative air passenger traffic increased 3.2% to 943.58 lakh in January-August 2019 over 913.94 lakh in January-August 2018.
The airline wise seat load factor was Spice Jet at 92.4% Air Asia 87.8% Go Air 87.5% Indigo 84.3% Vistara 81.8% Air India 80.9% Trujet 78.0% Star Air 53.1% Air Deccan 28.1% and Pawan Hans 14.4% in August 2019.
