Ashok Leyland gains after new order win

Ashok Leyland advanced 3% to Rs 149.25 at 10:55 IST on BSE after the company won an order from the Ministry of Defence for 10x10 vehicles to carry the Smerch Rockets.

The announcement was made during market hours today, 13 April 2018.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 159.16 points or 0.47% at 34,260.29.

On the BSE, 4.78 lakh shares were traded on the counter so far as against the average daily volumes of 16.40 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock had hit a high of Rs 149.65 and a low of Rs 145.10 so far during the day. The stock had hit a record high of Rs 151.55 on 15 March 2018 and a 52-week low of Rs 81 on 19 April 2017.

 

The large-cap company has equity capital of Rs 293.08 crore. Face value per share is Re 1.

Ashok Leyland said that the company has won another order from the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The contract is for supplying Ashok Leyland's High Mobility 10x10 vehicles (HMV 10x10). The initial order is worth over Rs 100 crore.

Amandeep Singh, Head - Defence, Ashok Leyland, said this order win will pave the company's way for newer opportunities in providing mobility platforms for other missile carriers, missile launchers, modular bridges and other critical loads.

Ashok Leyland's net profit surged 178.08% to Rs 449.71 crore on 57.5% growth in net sales to Rs 7113.16 crore in Q3 December 2017 over Q3 December 2016.
