Australian share market finished session tad higher on Wednesday, 21 February 2018, as gains in consumer staples, retailers, and financials were offset by losses among materials. The S&P/ASX 200 index rose 2.80 points, or 0.05%, to 5,943.70 at the close of trade. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 698 to 545 and 349 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.11% to 14.581.
