Australia stock market finished session down on Friday, 04 May 2018, with shares of financial companies leading losses on the prospect of a weaker the Australian dollar and persistently low interest rates. The S&P/ASX 200 index dipped 0.6% or 35.40 points to 6,062.90 at the close of trade. The broader All Ordinaries index retreated 0.51% to 6,155.4 points. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 654 to 595 and 360 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.51% to 11.610.
