Australian share market putted on weight on Wednesday, 21 September 2016, helped by gains in industrials, consumer staples, energy, property trusts, financials, and realty blue-chip stocks. At close of trade, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index rose 36 points, or 0.68%, to 5,339.60, while the broader All Ordinaries index has gained 32.10 points, or 0.59%, to 5,429.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 595 to 489 and 332 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 2.44% to 15.242.
