Australia stock market closed session down on Monday, 28 May 2018, hurt by losses in mining and oil stocks amid weaker commodity prices while banks fell as the powerful Royal Commission inquiry into financial services resumed its work. The S&P/ASX 200 index fell 0.5% or 28.8 points to 6004. Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 653 to 558 and 376 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 4.65% to 12.416.
