Australian share market finished session lower for second straight session on Wednesday, 17 January 2018, with shares of material and resources being notable losers hit by a slide in commodity prices. The S&P/ASX 200 index fell 0.5 %, or 32.8 points, to 6,015.8 at the close of trade. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 770 to 529 and 361 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 8.16% to 12.507 a new 1-month high.
