Australian share market finished session slight higher on Wednesday, 21 March 2018, supported by bargain hunting in financials, energy and materials sectors. However, market upside was capped on caution ahead of a U.S. Federal Reserve interest rates policy decision later in the day. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index rose 0.2%, or 13.9 points, to 5,950.3. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 627 to 597 and 392 ended unchanged. The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.15% to 12.245.
