Aviation stocks take off as domestic flights to resume from 25th

Shares of InterGlobe Aviation and SpiceJet soared after Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said domestic flights will be allowed to resume operations from 25 May.

InterGlobe Aviation jumped 8.09% to Rs 985.65. SpiceJet hit an upper circuit of 5% at Rs 42.95.

Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Civil Aviation tweeted, Domestic civil aviation operation will recommence in a calibrated manner from 25 May 2020. All airports & air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from 25 May. standard operating procedures (SOPs) for passenger movement are also being separately issued by Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Commercial flights have been suspended since 25 March 2020 after the Government banned air travel to check the spread of COVID-19. The decision on international operation is not issued by the Government.
