Bank of India edges up after decent Q2 numbers

Bank of India rose 0.61% to Rs 287.15 at 13:03 IST on BSE after net profit rose 26.41% to Rs 786 crore on 17.02% growth in total income to Rs 12099.45 crore in Q2 September 2014 over Q2 September 2013.

The Q2 result was announced during market hours today, 3 November 2014.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 26.59 points or 0.1% at 27,839.24.

On BSE, so far 7.39 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 4.40 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock was volatile. The stock rose as much as 1.61% at the day's high of Rs 290 so far during the day. The stock lost as much as 1.48% at the day's low of Rs 281.15 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 356.75 on 26 May 2014. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 166 on 20 February 2014.

 

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 31 October 2014, surging 23.15% compared with Sensex's 4.64% rise. The scrip had, however, underperformed the market in past one quarter, advancing 3.86% as against Sensex's 7.61% rise.

The large-cap bank has equity capital of Rs 642.26 crore. Face valuer per share is Rs 10.

Bank of India (BoI)'s ratio of gross non-performing assets (NPAs) to gross advances stood at 3.54% as on 30 September 2014 as against 3.28% as on 30 June 2014 and 2.93% as on 30 September 2013. The ratio of net NPAs to net advances stood at 2.32% as on 30 September 2014 as against 2.14% as on 30 June 2014 and 1.85% as on 30 September 2013.

The bank's provisions and contingencies declined 21.81% to 963.43 crore in Q2 September 2014 over Q2 September 2013. Provision coverage ratio stood at 56.32% as on 30 September 2014.

BoI's Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) as per Basel III norms stood at 10.97% as on 30 September 2014 as against 9.98% as on 30 June 2014 and 10.77% as on 30 September 2013.

The Government of India (GoI) holds 66.7% stake in Bank of India (as per the shareholding pattern as on 30 September 2014).
