Bharat Heavy Electricals rose 0.09% to Rs 116.65 at 9:45 IST on BSE after the company announced that it has commissioned 600 megawatts coal-based thermal power plant in Telangana.
The announcement was made on Friday, 25 March 2016. Stock markets had remained closed on 24 and 25 March 2016 on account of holidays. 'Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 25.83 points, or 0.1%, to 25,311.73.
On BSE, so far 68,225 shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 10.06 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock hit a high of Rs 117.70 and a low of Rs 116.50 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 289.85 on 21 July 2015. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 90.40 on 29 February 2016.
The large-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 489.52 crore. Face value per share is Rs 2.
Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) said that the power plant was commissioned at the upcoming 1200 megawatts (MW) Singareni Thermal Power Project located in Adilabad district in Telangana. The second unit of Singareni Thermal Power Project is also in an advanced stage of construction and is expected to be commissioned shortly. The project is being developed by Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL), a coal mining company. With the commissioning of the unit, SCCL has now successfully diversified into the power generation business, Bhel said.
Bhel reported net loss of Rs 1101.99 crore in Q3 December 2015 compared with net profit of Rs 212.60 crore in Q3 December 2014. Net sales declined 14% to Rs 5230.13 crore in Q3 December 2015 over Q3 December 2014.
