Birla Corporation spurts on bargain hunting

Birla Corporation rose 6.03% to Rs 796 at 14:05 IST on BSE on bargain hunting after a recent slide.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 92.09 points, or 0.27% to 33,743.65.

On the BSE, 15,000 shares were traded in the counter so far compared with average daily volumes of 9,069 shares in the past two weeks. The stock had hit a high of Rs 824 and a low of Rs 752 so far during the day. The stock hit a record high of Rs 1,290 on 8 January 2018. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 681.90 on 30 March 2017.

 

Shares of Birla Corporation slumped 17.07% in eight trading sessions to settle at Rs 750.70 yesterday, 14 March 2018, from its close of Rs 905.25 on 1 March 2018.

On a consolidated basis, Birla Corporation reported net loss of Rs 21.84 crore Q3 December 2017 as against net loss of Rs 41.29 crore in Q3 December 2016. Net sales rose 29.06% to Rs 1389.32 crore in Q3 December 2017 over Q3 December 2016.

Birla Corporation is primarily engaged in the manufacturing of cement as its core business activity. It has significant presence in the jute goods industry as well.
