Net purchases of a tiny Rs 44.68 crore on 29 July 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) made small purchases of Indian stocks on Friday, 29 July 2016, as per data released by the depositories. FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 44.68 crore from the secondary equity market on 29 July 2016, which was sharply lower than their purchases of Rs 1947.91 crore during the preceding trading session on 28 July 2016. The net inflow of Rs 44.68 crore on 29 July 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5587.67 crore and gross sales of Rs 5542.99 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex lost 156.76 points or 0.56% to settle at 28,051.86, its lowest closing level since 27 July 2016.

 

There was a net inflow of Rs 164.10 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary market & others' on 29 July 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 166.65 crore and gross sales of Rs 2.55 crore.

FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 12068.52 crore from the secondary equity markets in July 2016. FPIs had bought shares worth a net Rs 3418.97 crore from the secondary equity markets in June 2016. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 30349.60 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 29 July 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

There was a net inflow of Rs 543.30 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in July 2016. The net inflow from FPIs into category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 1637.70 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 29 July 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
