The Mainland China equity market closed a touch above the flat line on Monday, 23 October 2017, as gains in consumer and healthcare firms were offset by losses in realty and banking stocks. Trading volumes remained thin as investors awaited policy cues from a key meeting. Investors are turning cautious amid signs that China's economic recovery may be losing steam and as they await quarterly earnings from a slew of companies this week that could serve as a barometer of the country's economic health. The Shanghai Composite edged up 0.11% to end at 3,382.2729 and the Shenzhen Composite climbed 0.619% to finish at 2,012.0523.
