The Mainland China equity market finished session mixed on Wednesday, 17 January 2018, with gains in shares in banks & financials and infrastructure sectors offset by losses in consumer, retailers, and real estate issues. At the close, the Shanghai Composite index was up 8.76 points, or 0.26%, at 3,445.36. The blue-chip CSI300 index was down 0.23%, with its financial sector sub-index higher by 0.92%, the consumer staples sector down 2.57%, the real estate index down 0.79% and healthcare sub-index down 0.85%.
