The Mainland China equity market closed down after erasing earlier gains on Monday, 02 April 2018, amid lingering concerns about a China-US trade war after China announces retaliatory tariffs on about 130 U.S. goods offsetting positivism fueled by Beijing's fresh rules to allow China's largest technology companies to return to the mainland market. At the close, the Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.2%, or 5.72 points, to 3,163.18 at the close on Monday, erasing an earlier gain of as much as 0.7%. The CSI 300 Index of big-caps retreated 0.3% at 3,886.92.
