Cochin Shipyard jumps after bagging Indian Navy contract

Cochin Shipyard rallied 6.31% to Rs 413.50 after the company said it signed phase III contract of indigenous aircraft carrier for Indian Navy.

Cochin Shipyard signed the Phase-III contract for construction of the indigenous aircraft carrier on October 31, 2019. The Phase-III contract covers the operational and harbour acceptance trials of various equipment and systems installed onboard and also the sea trials of the carrier. The contract also covers some activities which are to be undertaken post delivery of the vessel including support during weapon & aviation trials.

The contract value is above Rs 3,000 crore, the company said. The announcement was made before market hours today, 1 November 2019.

 

Earlier this week, the company announced signing a Rs 175.70 crore contract for designing and constructing 23 hybrid-electric passenger ferries for Kochi Water Metro Project.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 6 points or 0.01% to 40,123.38.

Cochin Shipyard's consolidated net profit soared 12.1% to Rs 118.97 crore on 11.6% rise in net sales to Rs 735.44 crore in Q1 June 2019 over Q1 June 2018.

Cochin Shipyard is focused on providing cater to clients engaged in the defence sector in India and clients engaged in the commercial sector.
