Shares of three copper producers rose by 1.25% to 3.67% at 11:30 IST on BSE after copper futures rose more than 6% on Friday, 3 May 2013.
Hindalco Industries (up 3.67%), Sterlite Industries (India) (up 2.69%) and Hindustan Copper (up 1.25%), edged higher.
The BSE Sensex was up 75.40 points, or 0.39% at 19,651.04.
Benchmark copper on the London Metal Exchange jumped 6.09% to close at $7,265 per tonne on Friday, 3 May 2013, versus its previous close of $6,848.
The most actively traded copper contract, for July delivery, jumped 21 cents, or 6.8%, on Friday, settling at $3.3145 a pound on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, a three-week high.
