Delta Corp rose 0.25% to Rs 99 at 12:02 IST on BSE after institutional investor, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, hiked his stake in the company.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 151.52 points, or 0.52%, to 28,970.75.
On BSE, so far 14.54 lakh shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 5.83 lakh shares in the past one quarter.
Volatility was high in the counter. The stock rose 5.22% at the day's high of Rs 103.90 so far during the day. The stock fell 0.25% at the day's low of Rs 98.50 so far during the day.
The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 112.45 on 23 May 2014. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 77.30 on 11 July 2014.
The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 30 January 2015, rising 6.87% compared with 6.49% rise in the Sensex. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 10.27% as against Sensex's 6.72% rise.
The small-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 23.06 crore. Face value per share is Re 1.
Rakesh Jhunjhunwala acquired 25 lakh equity shares, or 1.08% stake, of Delta Corp on BSE and NSE on Monday, 2 February 2015.
Jhunjhunwala bought 12.50 lakh shares, or 0.54% stake, of the company at Rs 89.12 each on NSE. Another 12.50 lakh shares, or 0.54% stake, were acquired on BSE at Rs 91.75 each. Sellers were not known.
As on 31 December 2014, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala held 80 lakh shares, or 3.47% stake, in Delta Corp. His wife, Rekha Jhunjhunwala, held 75 lakh shares, or 3.25% stake, in Delta Corp.
Delta Corp reported net loss of Rs 0.43 crore in Q3 December 2014 as against net profit of Rs 19.69 crore in Q3 December 2013. Net sales declined 10.52% to Rs 80.95 crore in Q3 December 2014 over Q3 December 2013.
By virtue of possessing three out of the six issued offshore gaming licenses in the state of Goa, Delta Corp is the largest and only listed company within the gaming and hospitality segment in India. Delta Corp is rapidly expanding its gaming positions in Goa and currently offers 2,000 gaming positions. Delta Corp also has recently started a first of its kind integrated casino resort in Daman.
