Energy stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 57.08 points or 1.13% at 5086.31 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 4.69%), Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 4.29%),Aegis Logistics Ltd (up 3.45%),Petronet LNG Ltd (up 2.17%),Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.85%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Goa Carbon Ltd (up 1.69%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 1.34%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 1.17%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 1.1%), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 1.04%).
On the other hand, Oil India Ltd (down 1.3%), Panama Petrochem Ltd (down 1.04%), and Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (down 0.97%) turned lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 42.87 or 0.11% at 39255.51.
The Nifty 50 index was up 11.85 points or 0.1% at 11673.7.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 60.5 points or 0.46% at 13187.33.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 21.12 points or 0.47% at 4524.72.
On BSE,968 shares were trading in green, 546 were trading in red and 106 were unchanged.
