Net outflow of Rs 497 crore on 31 May 2013

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth net Rs 497 crore on Friday, 31 May 2013, compared with inflow of Rs 1497 crore on Thursday, 30 May 2013.

The net outflow of Rs 497 crore on Friday, 31 May 2013, was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5405.60 crore and gross sales of Rs 5902.60 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 298.50 crore from the secondary equity markets on 31 May 2013, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5397.30 crore and gross sales of Rs 5695.80 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had tumbled 455.10 points or 2.25% to settle at 19,760.30 on that day, its lowest closing level since 24 May 2013.

 

There was a net outflow of Rs 198.60 crore from the category 'primary market others' on Friday, 31 May 2013, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 8.30 crore and gross sales of Rs 206.90 crore.

FIIs have purchased shares worth Rs 22168.60 crore in May 2013. FIIs bought shares worth Rs 5414.10 crore in April 2013.

FIIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 82708.10 crore in 2013 so far (till 31 May 2013). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 128359.80 crore in calendar 2012.

There are a total of 1,755 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India.
