FIIs step up buying

Net inflow of Rs 148.10 crore on 7 May 2014

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 148.10 crore on Wednesday, 7 May 2014, higher than net inflow of Rs 76.10 crore on Tuesday, 6 May 2014.

The net inflow of Rs 148.10 crore on Wednesday, 7 May 2014, was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4265 crore and gross sales of Rs 4116.90 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 140.50 crore into the secondary equity market on Wednesday, 7 May 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4256.80 crore and gross sales of Rs 4116.40 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had lost 184.52 points or 0.82% to settle at 22,323.90 on that day, its lowest closing level since 16 April 2014.

 

There was a net inflow of Rs 7.70 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on Wednesday, 7 May 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 8.20 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.50 crore.

FIIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 1596.80 crore in May 2014 so far (till 7 May 2014). FIIs purchased shares worth a net Rs 9602.40 crore in April 2014.

FIIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 33394.80 crore in this calendar year so far (till 7 May 2014). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 113135.70 crore in 2013 calendar year.

There are a total of 1,710 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India.
