FIIs step up selling

Net outflow of Rs 440.70 crore on 29 May 2014

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 440.70 crore on Thursday, 29 May 2014, much higher than net outflow of Rs 43.70 crore on Wednesday, 28 May 2014.

The net outflow of Rs 440.70 crore on Thursday, 29 May 2014, was a result of gross purchases of Rs 6868.80 crore and gross sales of Rs 7309.50 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 442.50 crore from the secondary equity market on Thursday, 29 May 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 6864.60 crore and gross sales of Rs 7307.10 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had tumbled 321.94 points or 1.31% to settle at 24,234.15 on that day, its lowest closing level since 16 May 2014.

 

There was a net inflow of Rs 1.80 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on Thursday, 29 May 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4.30 crore and gross sales of Rs 2.40 crore.

FIIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 14006.10 crore in this month so far (till 29 May 2014). FIIs purchased shares worth a net Rs 9602.40 crore in April 2014.

FIIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 45804.20 crore in this calendar year so far (till 29 May 2014). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 113135.70 crore in 2013 calendar year.

There are a total of 1,709 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India
