The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated today that Rs 102 lakh crore National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) is set to help make India a $5 trillion economy by 2025. Under NIP, Rs 2.5 lakh crore will be allocated for port and airport projects, Rs 3.2 lakh crore will be allocated for digital infra projects that have been identified, Rs 16 lakh crore will be allocated for irrigation, rural, agri and food processing projects. Both Centreand State together have already spent Rs 51 lakh crore in the last 6 years. The FM noted that well planned NIP will enable more infra projects, grow businesses, create jobs and increase ease of living. It is estimated that India would need to spend $4.5 trillion on infrastructure by 2030 to sustain its growth rate. The endeavour of the NIP is to make this happen in an efficient manner.
