Footwear stocks rally on excise duty cut

Shares of four footwear makers gained 4.92% to 5.54% at 13:13 IST on BSE after the Finance Minister proposed reduction in excise duty on footwear.

The S&P BSE Sensex was up 133.09 points or 0.52% at 25,577.90

Bata India (up 4.98%), Liberty Shoes (up 4.92%), Mirza International (up 5.42%) and Relaxo Footwears (up 5.54%) edged higher.

While presenting the final Union Budget for 2014-15 in Lok Sabha today, 10 July 2014, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley proposed reduction in excise duty on footwear to 6% from 12%.
