Shares of five companies engaged in footwear sector rose 0.43% to 7.69% on reports the government may announce incentive package for the sector.
Relaxo Footwear (up 7.69%), Superhouse (up 3.22%), Sreeleathers (up 2.25%), Khadim India (up 0.72%), Bhartiya International (up 0.43%) and Liberty Shoes (up 0.74%) edged higher. Bata India (down 2.28%) and Mirza International (down 1.24%) declined.
Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 83.20 points or 0.25% at 33,561.55.
As per reports, the Union Cabinet is soon expected to take decision on Rs 2600 crore incentive package for the labour-intensive leather and footwear sector to boost exports and job creation. The ministry has sought tax incentives for the footwear, leather, and accessories development programme, reports indicated.
