Net outflow of Rs 161.89 crore on 18 May 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 161.89 crore on 18 May 2016 compared with net outflow of Rs 169.36 crore on 17 May 2016. The net outflow of Rs 161.89 crore into the secondary equity markets on 18 May 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3827.08 crore and gross sales of Rs 3988.97 crore. On that day, the Sensex fell 69 points or 0.27% to settle at 25,704.61, its lowest closing level since 16 May 2016.

There was an inflow of Rs 157.35 crore from 'primary markets & others' category on 18 May 2016.

 

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 898.75 crore into the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 18 May 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 8347.69 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 13715.76 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 18 May 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 555.75 crore in this month so far (till 18 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 68.04 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 649.56 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 18 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
