Net outflow of Rs 934.86 crore on 23 August 2017
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 934.86 crore into the secondary equity markets on 23 August 2017 higher than net sales of Rs 723.80 crore on 22 August 2017. On 23 August 2017, the Sensex rose 276.16 points or 0.88% to settle at 31,568.01, its highest closing level since 17 August 2017. FPIs sold shares for tenth straight session.
The net outflow of Rs 934.86 crore on 23 August 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4077.06 crore and gross sales of Rs 5011.92 crore.
There was a net inflow of Rs 19.74 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 23 August 2017, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 22.86 crore and gross sales of Rs 3.12 crore.
FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 15605.16 crore into the secondary equity markets in August 2017 so far (till 23 August 2017). They had bought stocks worth a net Rs 4199.62 crore from the secondary equity markets in July 2017.
FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 27138.45 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2017 so far (till 23 August 2017). They had purchased shares worth a net Rs 12094.42 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 1455.46 crore from the category primary market & others' in August 2017 so far (till 23 August 2017). They had bought stocks worth a net Rs 972.54 crore from the category primary market & others' in July 2017.
FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 17226.86 crore from the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2017 so far (till 23 August 2017). The net inflow from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' had totaled Rs 8471.76 crore in calendar year 2016.
