Net outflow of Rs 567.82 crore on 24 August 2017
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 567.82 crore into the secondary equity markets on 24 August 2017, lower than net sales of Rs 934.86 crore on 23 August 2017. On 24 August 2017, the Sensex rose 28.05 points or 0.09% to settle at 31,596.06, its highest closing level since 17 August 2017. FPIs sold shares for eleventh straight session. Domestic stock markets had remained closed on Friday, 25 August 2017 on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.
The net outflow of Rs 567.82 crore on 24 August 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4283.65 crore and gross sales of Rs 4851.47 crore.
There was a net inflow of Rs 10.84 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 24 August 2017, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 10.84 crore and nil gross sales.
FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 16172.98 crore into the secondary equity markets in August 2017 so far (till 24 August 2017). They had bought stocks worth a net Rs 4199.62 crore from the secondary equity markets in July 2017.
