Net purchases of Rs 299.30 crore 20 July 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) remained net buyers of Indian stocks for the ninth trading session in a row on Wednesday, 20 July 2016. FPIs bought stocks worth a net Rs 299.30 crore from the secondary equity market on 20 July 2016, which was lower than their purchases of Rs 605.10 crore on 19 July 2016. The net inflow of Rs 299.30 crore on 20 July 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4681.86 crore and gross sales of Rs 4382.56 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex rose 128.27 points or 0.46% to settle at 27,915.89, its highest closing level since 14 July 2016.
There was a net inflow of Rs 183.82 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary market & others' on 20 July 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 184.96 crore and gross sales of Rs 1.14 crore.
FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 7101.91 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 20 July 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 3418.97 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 25338.20 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 20 July 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There has been a net inflow of Rs 542.47 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in this month so far (till 20 July 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 293.91 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month. The net inflow from FPIs into category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs. 1472.90 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 20 July 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
