Net inflow of Rs 406.22 crore on 31 August 2017
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 406.22 crore from the secondary equity markets yesterday, 31 August 2017, as compared to net purchases of Rs 99.73 crore on 30 August 2017. On 31 August 2017, the Sensex rose 84.03 points or 0.27% to settle at 31,730.49, its highest closing level since 28 August 2017.
The net inflow of Rs 406.22 crore on 31 August 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 8415.62 crore and gross sales of Rs 8009.40 crore.
There was a net outflow of Rs 37.69 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 31 August 2017, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 38.35 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.66 crore.
FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 27214.22 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2017 so far (till 31 August 2017). They had purchased shares worth a net Rs 12094.42 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016.
FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 17451.21 crore from the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2017 so far (till 31 August 2017). The net inflow from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' had totaled Rs 8471.76 crore in calendar year 2016.
