FPIs step up buying

Net inflow of Rs 1298.87 crore on 25 January 2018

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 1298.87 crore from the secondary equity markets on 25 January 2018, higher than net inflow of Rs 850.53 crore on 24 January 2018. On 25 January 2018, the Sensex had fallen 111.20 points or 0.31% to settle at 36,050.44, its lowest closing level since 22 January 2018. The stock market was closed on Friday, 26 January 2018 on account of Republic Day holiday.

The net inflow of Rs 1298.87 crore into the secondary equity markets on 25 January 2018 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 9133.81 crore and gross sales of Rs 7834.94 crore.

 

There was a net inflow of Rs 47.34 crore into the 'primary market & others' category on 25 January 2018, which was a result of Rs 83.76 crore gross purchases and gross sales of Rs 36.42 crore.

FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 13221.96 crore from the secondary equity markets in January 2018 so far (till 25 January 2018). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 3345.02 crore into the secondary equity markets in December 2017.

FPIs have sold stocks worth a net Rs 116.51 crore into the primary market & others' category in January 2018 so far (till 25 January 2018). They had sold stocks worth a net Rs 2537.66 crore into the primary market & others' category in December 2017.
