FPIs step up selling

Net outflow of Rs 1189.54 crore on 8 October 2014

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 1189.54 crore on Wednesday, 8 October 2014, much higher than outflow of Rs 40.77 crore on Tuesday, 7 October 2014.

The net outflow of Rs 1189.54 crore on 8 October 2014 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3267.86 crore and gross sales of Rs 4457.40 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 1191.43 crore from the secondary equity market on 8 October 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3265.97 crore and gross sales of Rs 4457.40 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had dropped 25.18 points or 0.1% to settle at 26,246.79 on that day, its lowest closing level since 14 August 2014.

 

There was an inflow of Rs 1.89 crore into the category 'primary market & others' on 8 October 2014.

FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 801.16 crore in this month so far (till 8 October 2014). They have sold shares worth a net Rs 1379.96 crore from the secondary markets in this month so far (till 8 October 2014). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 5102.52 crore in September 2014. They bought shares worth a net Rs 4137.79 crore from the secondary equity markets in that month.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 82636.60 crore in this calendar year so far (till 8 October 2014). They have bought shares worth a net Rs 74102.10 crore from the secondary equity markets in this year so far.
