FPIs turn buyers

Net inflow of Rs 348.52 crore on 2 May 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 348.52 crore on 2 May 2016, compared with net outflow of Rs 33.31 crore on 29 April 2016. The net inflow of Rs 348.52 crore into the secondary equity markets on 2 May 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 2986.22 crore and gross sales of Rs 2637.70 crore. On that day, the Sensex fell 169.65 points or 0.66% to settle at 25,436.97, its lowest closing level since 12 April 2016.

There was an inflow of Rs 0.45 crore into 'primary markets & others' category on 2 May 2016 which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.45 crore and zero gross sales.

 

FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 13132.22 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 2 May 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 111.48 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 2 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
