Hong Kong share market closed marginally higher after recouping losses in afternoon trade on Monday, 18 August 2014, helped by strong buying in heavily weighted shares. The benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 0.52 point to close at 24955.46. Market turnover stood at HK$69.7 billion, up from HK$69 billion on Friday. The benchmark index opened 11 points easier and saw its losses widen to 190 points at one stage. But it recovered all the losses by market close.
