The Hong Kong stock market closed higher after five straight losses on Monday, 04 December 2017, with property developer Country Garden Holdings pacing gains as it began trading as a member of the Hang Seng Index. The day's gains was also supported by jump in the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures by 0.8% on Monday, pointing toward a likely stronger opening on Wall Street, after the U.S. Senate approved a Republican-backed tax overhaul over the weekend. The benchmark Hang Seng index edged up 0.22%, or 64.04 points, to 29,138.28 and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index added 0.6%, or 68.64 points, to 11,518.07. Turnover decreased to HK$108.6 billion from HK$150.5 billion on Friday.
