The Hong Kong stock market finished session lower after reversing its morning climb on Wednesday, 21 March 2018, as investors booked profits on caution ahead of an expected Federal Reserve interest-rate increase and outlook. The Fed is widely expected to raise interest rates at its two-day policy meeting that ends on Wednesday, with the focus mainly on Chairman Jerome Powell's commentary later in the global day, which may provide hints on the number of hikes for the rest of the year. The Hang Seng Index fell 0.4%, or 135.41 points, to 31,414.52, giving up early gains of as much as 1.4%. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, or the H-share gauge, retreated 0.6%. Turnover increased to HK$152.9 billion from HK$123.5 billion on Tuesday.
