Hong Kong share market finished session mixed on Thursday, 03 March 2022, as positivity from easing worries over of aggressive Fed rate hikes offset by Russia's escalating war on Ukraine.

Investors shifted their attention to the China's annual parliamentary gathering for more clues on the economic agenda.

At closing bell, the benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 0.55%, or 123.42 points, to 22,467.34. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 0.1%, or 8.14 points, to 7,900.04.

Market concern over aggressive monetary tightening by the U.S. Federal Reserve eased after Chairman Jerome Powell said he supports a more modest interest rate hike this month than some investors had expected. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said in testimony before Congress that he is inclined to support a 25 basis point rate increase at the upcoming Fed meeting, instead of the 50 basis point hike recommended by some board members amid rising inflation in the country.

Market participants were also monitoring developments regarding a second round of cease-fire talks between Russia and Ukraine, which could take place Thursday.
