The Hong Kong stock market closed down on Thursday, 21 May 2015, after an initial gauge of China's factory activity showed further sluggishness in May. The benchmark index opened 77 points lower and saw its losses widen to 191 points before recovering most of its lost ground. The Hang Seng Index ended down 61.33 points or 0.22% to 27523.725, off an intra-day high of 27611.72 and day low of 27393.31. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, benchmark measure of performance of mainland China enterprises, declined 103.74 points, or 0.73%, to 14132.16 points. Turnover reduced to HK$124.5 billion from HK$137.8 billion on Wednesday.
