Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sachin Pilot said there is tremendous potential for increasing the economic ties between Rajasthan state and Japan, particularly in areas of skilling and technologies. Speaking at '3rd Dialogue with States - Japan's Rendezvous with Rajasthan', organised by FICCI's Forum of Parliamentarians in partnership with the Embassy of Japan, Mr Pilot talked about how skills and technology can be two areas of potential cooperation between Rajasthan and Japan.
"Rajasthan is a key tourism hub in India and there is a huge opportunity for economic and investment tie-ups between the state of Rajasthan and Japan," he said. Ambassador of Japan to India Mr Kenji Hiramatsu mentioned some of the key areas where Japan and Rajasthan could collaborate like Japan-India Institutes for Manufacturing (JIM), Japanese Industrial Township in Neemrana, economic corridor DMIC, academic exchange and Japanese language training.
"Rajasthan is, indeed, one of the first states which took steps to improve the business environment. For example, the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) has appointed a full-time Japan Desk representative. The state of Rajasthan is also responsive to the requests by Japanese companies, not only at the initial stage of setting-up, but also throughout their business operations. This sincere approach has won the trust of Japanese companies and made Neemrana a successful example of industrial clustering in India. I would like to express my deep appreciation for the support of the State Government," Mr Hiramatsu said.
In April 2018, Japanese Embassy and FICCI's India Japan Forum of Parliamentarians agreed to jointly organize a Dialogue with Indian States, in which they will hold seminars to highlight geo-political and geo-economic aspects of cooperation between Indian states and Japan that are of interest to Indian MPs, industry and academics in states, he said.
